Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Police Continue Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter carried on following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies online, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a raid at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our public”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a police source reported to the Associated Press.

Police that searched the inn recovered a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was taken into custody, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was released from the hospital, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a independent school in the city of Durham, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his bright future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US university with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in this year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
