The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.

Digital Channels Response

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.

Required Changes

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
