US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Mourners gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”
Service plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The incident caused the administration to halt refugee claims and cease issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with his relatives.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
