Supporters Demand Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the pop star are urging that a person who breached a fence and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the Australian man pushing past media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account contains videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last winter.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Several supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while some demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the well-known theatrical musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
