Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
